Thomas Tuchel suggests club could ‘investigate’ social media abuse to Mason Mount

Social media can be a very good tool for many reasons, and within the Chelsea fan community there are some very good people and some very good friendships have been formed.

However, the other side of it is an absolute cesspit and the cause of a lot of people’s mental health to deteriorate. There is bullying and abuse, constant arguments, and people trying to belittle each other. Fans of the same club constantly fighting with each other, it’s a sad case.

For players as well it can be an awful place, with them being targeted with personal abuse, which is never acceptable.

Mason Mount and Cesar Azpilicueta copped it this weekend after missing penalties in the FA Cup final and of course, Mount is a constant target by a weird section of Chelsea ‘fans’ on Twitter.

Thomas Tuchel says this is why he doesn’t have social media, and also says that the club could investigate after the latest barrage of abuse aimed at Mount.

“Nothing I can say will stop these guys doing it,” Tuchel said as reported by The Daily Mirror. I don’t understand social media anyway. It has a huge impact and I don’t get it.

“I’m not on social media and it keeps me healthy, more healthy than I would be on it. It’s a very thin ice for everybody who is in such a spotlight to be out there.

“Of course, abuse is not acceptable be it here or on social media but I don’t want to predict stuff I don’t know about and this happens and if someone thinks he has the right to write it we will not stop him but maybe we can investigate.”
