The Thomas Tuchel quote that hints at attacking changes

Chelsea’s priority this window is to strengthen their defence, there’s no question there. The Blues are losing several first team players and will need to replace them right away.

The second priority is probably in midfield, where N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are reaching the end of the line.

Attacking options don’t seem like a priority, but something Thomas Tuchel said recently hinted that some of the misfiring forwards bought in recent years could be moved on.

Speaking about his team’s inability to score the goals they need to put games away, Tuchel had mused:

“Is it necessary to bring more offensive players around the box to create more distractions, to create more space for each other? We will ask that question,” in quotes picked up by The Sun.

“The numbers we produce from our offensive players don’t allow us to overperform and we need overperformance if we want to be nearer to the top two teams.”

There’s no doubt that the Blues need new ideas and possibly new faces up top if they want to get the best out of their massive investment in Romelu Lukaku.

Could it be Hakim Ziyech? Could it be Timo Werner? Could it be Christian Pulisic? If the club get a good offer for any of them, we can’t see them turning it down.
