As if it wasn’t bad enough losing another cup final on penalties this season to the same team, it’s also transpired that there was a disruption right before the game which would have been the last thing Chelsea needed.
Reports came in last night that defender Andreas Christensen was set to start the game but he ended up pulling out, leaving Trevoh Chalobah to step in at late notice, perhaps leaving him more unprepared than everyone else.
Robert Lewandowski’s agent to reignite Chelsea move for his client?
There were no reasons given by any of the reports, but Christensen was not injured.
According to Adam Newson of Football London as well, several members of the Chelsea team were left ‘shocked’ that Christensen pulled out, and I’m sure that is the last thing they would have all wanted for cup final preparations.
Understand several members of the Chelsea first team were shocked by Andreas Christensen withdrawing from the squad for the #FACupFinal, especially as he was expected to start.
Also, huge credit should go to Trevoh Chalobah. Wouldn’t have been easy to step in late. #CFC

I’m not searching for excuses of course, but this would have been far from ideal right before a cup final.
