Palace pair embarrass Chelsea transfer heads with brilliant seasons

Crystal Palace have had a really good season, against all odds.

They lost a lot of players last summer, and a manager who was keeping things steady. But their trip into the unknown has proved to be a big success so far.

A large part of that success has been down to the addition of two players, both from the Chelsea academy. In the Eagles’ award ceremony last night, Conor Gallagher won the club’s player of the season award, while Mar Guehi won the players’ player of the year award.

Now the good news is that Gallagher is only on loan and will be back at Chelsea next season. But we could really have used him this season, and letting him go even temporarily was a mistake.

Then there’s Guehi, who we sold and has been brilliant. We are now desperately searching for centre backs this summer, and have to watch him thriving.

Last summer looks increasingly like a disaster for Chelsea – but a triumph for Palace.
