No-brainer transfer story of the year

The Daily Mail have nailed the “no brainer transfer story of the year” award.

They say that new owner Todd Boehly will be told to spend the bulk of his money on – drumroll – defenders. Well, that’s an idea.

Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are leaving the club this summer, Cesar Azpilicueta could join them. Thiago Silva is 37.

This squad needs 2, maybe 3 first team defenders. And you don’t have to be a Moneyball big brain to see it. Boehly is going to have to sink some money into the club in his first few months at the wheel if he wants to go to the next level.

In fact, if one good things comes from this whole process of selling the club, it will be the replacement of those who allowed brilliant young defenders to leave the club two windows in a row, before then letting the player block their path go too, a year on.
