Marcos Alonso back in Chelsea team as rift rumours proved to be false

Marcos Alonso was taken off at half time of Chelsea’s game against Wolves at the weekend, and after the game Thomas Tuchel was asked about it.

He confirmed it wasn’t an injury issue – with the only conclusion being that the Chelsea boss wasn’t happy with the left back’s performance, and had hauled him off.

After the game, there were rumours of a rift, and footage came out of Alonso getting an earful from his boss as he hesitated to track back after losing the ball.

But in his press conference ahead of today’s game against Leeds the manager denied any bad blood, and sure enough the Spaniard is in the team for tonight’s game that was just announced.

OK, it’s not like Tuchel has any other options, but clearly whatever was said is behind them now. These could be Alonso’s last few games in Blue, let’s hope he makes them count.
