Key Liverpool player out for FA Cup final in massive boost for wounded Chelsea

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has just confirmed some major injury news that has a huge bearing on Chelsea’s game against the Reds in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Klopp confirmed today that midfielder Fabinho would not be fit for the game after picking up a muscle injury in Tuesday night’s win over Aston Villa.

The Brazilian is one of the best holding midfielders in world football, and Liverpool’s high press is very dependent on his ability to dominate large spaces behind the attackers, as well as his uncanny knack of avoiding yellow and red cards despite repeated fouls.

That opens up a great chance for Chelsea to dominate the crucial middle 3rd of the pitch.

Unfortunately, the Blues also look like they will be without their own vital midfield cog. Mateo Kovacic was taken out by a nasty tackle from Dan James last night, and we expect Thomas Tuchel to have similar comments to Klopp when he’s asked in the presser tomorrow.
