Kai Havertz gets top rating in Chelsea win, with big summer to come

Chelsea’s game against Watford today was a total dead rubber for both teams, and it rather showed in the match, which was a tepid affair.

There were a few nice moments though, and WhoScored had one player on the pitch rated as an impressive 7.9/10 by their algorithm, the highest in the game.

That man was Kai Havertz, who scored the first goal.

He looked good today after a spell out of the team, but it’s a big summer ahead. He’s shown more than enough in his two years at the club to get more chances next year, but if he’s going to lead the line full time that’s a big decision on the club’s part.

Do they sign another striker, or continue next season with the different styles of Romelu Lukaku and Havertz as their two options?

It’s a big call for Thomas Tuchel and the scouting team, who have their work cut out in the next few weeks.
