Jorginho could run down Chelsea contract to secure big money on Serie A return

Jorginho’s future at Chelsea always seems slightly in doubt, in part because of his agent’s habit of talking about a future elsewhere, and in part because of his divisiveness among Chelsea fans.

But now he’s reaching the end of his contract at the club, it feels like things are getting even more touch and go. Futbol Insider claim that he may wait it out and leave on a free when his deal is up at the end of next season.

To us, this has always seemed pretty likely. Despite his agent’s constant flirting with Serie A teams, Jorginho is in a great spot right now. He’s an important player for Thomas Tuchel in a successful team.

In a year’s time he will be 31, and able to move to the highest bidder on a free transfer.

Even if he would rather leave now, doing one more year in the Premier League in return for a much larger payoff seems a no brainer.
