“It’s massive” – Mason Mount on Champions League challenge

Mason Mount has been speaking to the Chelsea official website about the team and their game against Leeds tonight.

The Blues had a big lead in the race for the Champions League, but bad results in recent weeks have seen that lead dwindle, and now the pressure is on once again to get results and ensure a place in the top 4.

The game against Leeds – who are desperately fighting against relegation – is going to be very difficult, and we’re a little worried about it.

Mount at least knows how much it means:

“It’s massive. You look over the last couple years we’ve managed to secure the top four. Two years ago we got it with fourth position and the next year we won the Champions League, so you know how massive it is to look ahead to next season and what we can achieve as a team.”

Win tonight and it’s pretty plain sailing to the finish line. But if we lose and Arsenal and Tottenham win, it will truly be panic stations, and the pressure of that will make our remaining games even harder.

So let’s hope the team go out with some impetus tonight and stamp their authority on the game.
