Inter still pushing to extend Chelsea target’s contract

Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has a contract which expires this summer, and Chelsea have repeatedly been linked with interest in the Croatian, but may find it difficult to sign him.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta today has come out and said that the club are still intending to extend Perisic’s deal.

Whether they will be able to is another matter, but the fact they believe there’s a chance at the very least means that they don’t think the former Dortmund man has agreed a deal elsewhere.

Chelsea are unable to negotiate any new deals as it stands because of their ownership situation. If Perisic decides not to risk waiting and instead signs a new deal, that will be another chilling example of how these sanctions are hurting our team planning for next season.

The sooner that side of things is sorted, the better for Thomas Tuchel and the club as a whole.
