How Chelsea could spend £200m transfer budget

This moment has always been coming – the moment a deal was agreed for new ownership of Chelsea, we were always going to get a big story about a mega transfer budget being handed down by the new ownership, and that’s just what’s happened today.

Last night Matt Law reported that Todd Boehly was going to hand Thomas Tuchel a £200m war chest to rebuild the squad (although the Telegraph writer did note that this included money raised from sales).

Other writers have carried the story forwards today, with James Robson at the Evening Standard reporting on the details of how it would be spent.

He said the money would be spent on “two centre backs… cover at wing back, as well as potential additions in midfield and attack.”

That’s similar to how we see things going, with defenders vital and attackers only seeming likely if we’re able to shift some of our current options at the top of the field.
