Four Chelsea players have been ‘waiting for months’ to discuss contract renewals

The new Chelsea owners once officially confirmed, will have a very busy summer ahead of them as they start a new era at the club.

I hope they come in with plenty of energy and ready to work, because they are absolutely going to need it.

Sources: Chelsea are keeping a regular dialogue open with midfielder’s agent ahead of summer move.

Not only is there the massive workload that comes with running a football club anyway, there is the added element of a summer transfer window opening very soon, player contracts to deal with, and a squad to try and improve ahead of a pre-season that will soon be around the next corner.

Chelsea have some players who have been ‘waiting for months to discuss’ new contract extensions with the club, according to Fabrizio Romano, who wrote an exclusive for Caught Offside this week.

Romano explains that Mason Mount, Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, and N’Golo Kante have all been waiting to speak about a renewal but haven’t been able to due to the sanctions.

“All these players have been waiting for months to discuss the extension of the contract with Chelsea but there have been no changes; the sanctions have slowed down the contract renewal process,” Romano said.

“Mason Mount’s contract remains pending but it will be one of the priorities for the club to extend the agreement with him and with N’Golo Kante, while Alonso has a good chance of returning to Spain. As of today, Mount is not in negotiations with Liverpool or Man City.”
