Chelsea still have two games to play in this campaign, but it’s pretty clear that minds are very much trained on next season already.
The Blues are out of the Champions League, they’re just a point away from ensuring they have a top 4 place, and they’re reached the end of every other competition they played in this season.
That means planning ahead, with the club tasked with buying the players they need to close the enormous gap in points and quality between them and Liverpool.
One area they can definitely upgrade is their central midfield, although there too they will have to do battle with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.
Aurelien Tchouameni, a rising star at Monaco, has been a long term target of the Blues, although Sport Witness are now reporting that Liverpool are “a priority” for him.
That’s dreadful news – we can offer him a fantastic project here, but Liverpool have even more proven recent success, and it sounds like the France international is keen on a move there.
After waiting so long, we might have to end up looking elsewhere.
