Fabrizio Romano’s column on CaughtOffside always has some juicy Chelsea transfer stuff going on, and this week he’s referring to our interest in Ousmane Dembele.
The winger’s contract expires this summer, and he will be one of the more in demand players on the market in the window.
Romano says Chelsea have been “informed” about the player since January, and are clearly keen, although the sanctions mean they can’t progress their interest much further than discussions with his agent.
Dembele is a risk, that’s for sure. He is a brilliant talent, but has a terrible injury record. Someone is going to roll the dice on him this summer – it’s not sure if it will be Chelsea though.
Given Barcelona are taking Andreas Christensen from us on a free, and are looking to do the same with Cesar Azpilicueta, it will be nice to get some element of revenge by swooping for Dembele in return.
