Chelsea can’t be ruled out in Lewandowski chase claims top source

Jan Aage Fjortoft is well connected in German football, and he’s just reported that Robert Lewandowski has a real chance of moving to Chelsea this summer.

The striker has reportedly decided to push for a move away from Bayern Munich this summer, with Barcelona heavy favourites to bring him in.

But Frojtoft wrote on his Twitter today “don’t rule out Chelsea.”

He claimed the Blues could be an “outsider” in the deal, but also admitted that it would be dependent on the “Lukaku situation” being resolved.

That’s where we see this all falling down. We’re sure Thomas Tuchel would love to sign Lewandowski, but there’s no way it can happen unless Lukaku is moved on somewhere.

Given Chelsea are paying him vast wages and spent close to £100m on him, it’s hard to work out just how they would go about moving him on.

A loan deal for a year is about as good as it would get, but even that feels like a long shot.
