Aurelien Tchouameni chooses Madrid, with Chelsea still snared in sanctions

Due to the sanctions on them, Chelsea can’t make any bids of contract offers at the moment.

They can’t take part in this window yet – but that doesn’t mean that the window can’t pass by without them.

The best example has happened this afternoon. Fabrizio Romano, king of the Italian transfer insiders, is reporting that Aurelien Tchouameni has told his Monaco teammates that he will join Real Madrid this summer.

Chelsea could have had him, but they baulked at the price last summer, and now they will miss out entirely because the sanctions prevent them from even attempting to convince the midfielder than they’re a better option than Real Madrid.

Like most fans watching on, Thomas Tuchel must be pulling his hair out. Every day this window goes on is another day that more moves like this will take place without us. Given how much business we have to do this summer, that’s devastating.
