Timo Werner and Mason Mount extended their lead in the productivity stakes

Timo Werner assisted Mason Mount’s goal at Wembley on Saturday, continuing the excellent productive form both have shown this season.

In fact, a quick glance at the stats of FBRef show they are Chelsea’s best players in terms of raw goals and assists.

Werner has managed a superb 0.81 goals and assists per 90 minutes this season (excluding penalties), while Mount is close behind on 0.73.

Those are truly phenomenal numbers and the two of them are starting to show real chemistry as a pair when used in a front 3, with Kai Havertz gradually bedding in as a mobile front man.

Werner’s time at Chelsea really looked over, and he has had some truly dire games this season despite producing goals and assists.

These raw numbers won’t guarantee him anything, but they provide a strong argument in favour of persevering with the German striker beyond this summer – if Thomas Tuchel sees it that way.
