“Like N’Golo Kante with goals” – Former Blue gives Chelsea player huge compliment

N’Golo Kante didn’t have a great game against Real Madrid as Chelsea were eliminated in the Champions League on Tuesday night, sparking a fresh set of discussions about his future.

The Blues will have to do well to replace the France star, a true all time great in his position, but they may have the man to do the job on their books already.

Football.London have some really interesting quotes from former Chelsea man Tony Cascarino where he says that Conor Gallagher could be the man to step up and fill Kante’s shoes.

“He does one thing Chelsea haven’t got – they haven’t got a proper goalscoring midfielder. And I mean more centrally,” Cascarino explained.

“They’ve got lots of wide men who can chip in goals, and sometimes Mason Mount can play more centrally, (Callum) Hudson-Odoi can come inside into positions to score goals. But, for me, Conor Gallagher is like N’Golo Kante with goals.”

It’s a big claim, but from the way that Gallagher has taken to life in the Premier League, there’s no telling just how good he can get.

He will never have some of Kante’s perfect ball winning characteristics, but he does indeed have a more natural eye for goal. If Thomas Tuchel backs him next season, it will be a true show of amazing faith.
