Chelsea turn down Palace’s Gallagher request

Chelsea have rejected a request from Crystal Palace to be able to play their on-loan midfielder Conor Gallagher in the FA Cup semi final later this month.

It seems like it must have been a pretty cursory attempt from Palace – they must have known Chelsea would say no to the breakout Premier League star being able to play against the team who own him.

Chelsea were at the centre of one of the more high profile versions of this situation when Atletico Madrid requested that on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois be able to play against his parent club Chelsea in a Champions League semi final.

He did play in that game in the end – and as you’ll remember, Chelsea lost. Let’s hope that Chelsea can beat Palace without their exceptional box to box man – who will hopefully be playing for the Blues next year.
