Chelsea Supporters Trust comes out publicly against Ricketts family bid

The Chelsea Supporters Trust never had the power they should have done, but with the upcoming change of ownership they have the unique chance to get themselves a proper say in the future of the club.

So far their focus has been on the one particularly controversial bid, which has come from the Ricketts family who own the Chicago Cubs.

The CST has been open minded, but they have today released a statement which reveals a strong negative sentiment among their members with regards to the Ricketts bid.

They write that 77% of their members do not support the bid, and just 3% do support it.

Their bottom line is that the CST board is “guided by their membership”, and therefore they do not “believe it is in the best interests of our members for the Ricketts family’s bid to succeed.”

That is as clear as they can be really, and there will be major trouble ahead if the Raine Group do choose the Ricketts to be put forward as potential winners.

  1. The questions in the survey were put so that the CST would get the answers they wanted to oppose this bid. Why are they not questioning the other bids? All a bit one sided. The supporters trust are setting themselves up as representatives of Chelsea supporters. How many members have they got? How many took part in the survey? Because 77% of a small number does not amount to that much and certainly not enough to speak for many thousands of Chelsea supporters world wide.

  2. If the Ricketts family continue to press for ownership of our club, ORGANISE A PETITION, STATING THAT NO FAN WILL ATTEND MATCHES IF THEY SUCCEED. THEN HAND IT INTO THE CLUB SO THEY CAN INFORM THE UNSAVOURY YANKS.

  3. I’m not and never will I ever be in support of the ricketts family….Chelsea we need a boss who is welcoming all mankind
