New businessman who bought Reebok from Adidas looking to join current bidders for Chelsea

You really get a strong sense that the Chelsea ownership story is far from over just yet, and there are one or two more surprises around the corner in this race.

I still feel like we might soon hear about another silent bidder or two, ones who have insisted their movements stay quiet.

And there was another unexpected story that came out yesterday, claiming that another wealthy businessman is looking to join up with a current bidder on the shortlist to buy Chelsea FC.

According to Bloomberg, Jamie Salter, the acquisitive founder of Authentic Brands Group Inc., is considering joining a current bidding party.

Salter started Authentic Brands in 2010 and in January, it agreed to acquire former football player David Beckham’s brand-management company. They sealed their largest transaction last year when they bought Reebok from Adidas AG for as much as 2.1 billion euros ($2.5 billion).

He has held discussions about potentially teaming up with one of the shortlisted suitors as a minority investor, but he could also explore a brand licensing partnership with the winning bidder.
