Lazio interest in Kepa remains strong with Sarri not interested in current options

Kepa Arrizabalaga’s New Year restoration to Chelsea’s first team ended in disaster in the Carabao Cup final, but his strong performances before that, with Edouard Mendy away at the Africa Cup of Nations, still seems to have worked hugely in his favour.

It has always looked extremely difficult for Chelsea to sell him, given the immense fee they paid for him, and the big wages he’s on. But as each year of that contract expires we get closer to a deal, and it has always felt like Lazio are the most interested.

The Laziali blog report that Maurizio Sarri’s interest in the player he brought to Chelsea is only growing stronger, and his lack of conviction in his two current options (Thomas Strakosha and Pepe Reina) means that this summer provides a great opportunity for Kepa to make the switch – if  the clubs can agree a fee.

We won’t hold our breath, but there can be no denying we’re getting closer.
