“Excellent” Conor Gallagher shines for England

Conor Gallagher started for England tonight and made a great case for future appearances with a great all round showing. As always, he put a foot in when defending and got forward with endless energy.

The BBC’s Phil McNulty described him as “excellent” and said he had a “fine performance” as England came back from a goal down to win 2-1, with Gallagher providing an assist along the way.

The writer notes that the midfielder is pushing hard for a starting spot with his country, although Chelsea target Declan Rice will be hard to displace.

Either way, the way that Gallagher has stepped up to the Premier League and then to the international game without putting a foot wrong will surely secure his place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for next season.

His future, for England and for Chelsea, looks incredibly bright, and we can’t wait to see him playing his first senior games for the club.
