Chelsea made Raphinha bid in January according to Spanish sources

All we’re hearing about now with regards to Leeds winger Raphinha is that Barcelona are keen on him, and are lining him up a major summer transfer.

But in the Spanish reporting on the potential move, we’re also hearing more and more about Chelsea’s interest in the Brazilian.

Mundo Deportivo write that the Blues had actually made a January offer for the Leeds man in an attempt to steal a march on their rivals, a €48m deal that matches the Whites’ asking price.

Of course, given is their star attacking player and their best chance of avoiding relegation, they didn’t sell, and now Chelsea are embroiled in an ownership race that prevents them from making any transfer moves at all.

The 25 year old could yet be persuaded to come to Stamford Bridge, but offering a South American more tempting package than a newly revived Barcelona will be extremely difficult now.
