10 days that will stretch Thomas Tuchel’s squad to the maximum

Once your team has made it out of January, there tends to be a feeling that the fixture list tends to ease off a little. But if you’re Chelsea, and you make the EFL Cup final, win the Club World Cup, and go deep in the Champions League and FA Cup every season, the fun is just beginning.

In fact, Chelsea’s next 10 days will be about as hectic as you could possibly get. Starting with Norwich on Thursday night, the Blues face a frenzy of games. Following the Canaries, we face Newcastle, Lille and Middlesbrough in the next 10 days.

There are no huge names in there – but it’s a tricky run, with three of those games played away from home, and one abroad.

At least it was the perfect day to find out that both Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are back in training. They will both soak up serious minutes in this run – which hopefully ends up taking us forward in three competitions.
