Chelsea confirm Mason Burstow signing after 12 hour delay

Chelsea have this afternoon confirmed the signing of Mason Burstow from Charlton.

The deal was rumoured to be done last night, but there was a mysterious silence from the club until just now, when pictures of the 18 year old signing his contract were released.

A quick and dynamic striker, Burstow actually had an unsuccessful trial with Chelsea two years ago. He ended up at a Welling United, before quickly upgrading to Charlton. He made his debut for the Addicks in the EFL Trophy back in August, scoring with his first touch in professional football.

After that, he’s been featuring off the bench, but his potential is so obvious that Chelsea have decided to make their move now. Burstow will remain on loan with Charlton for the rest of this season, and we reckon there’s a very good chance he goes back next season too, as he continues to develop in a situation which suits him.
