Why Southampton can’t loan Tino Anjorin from Chelsea

It’s been remarked in recent days that Southampton are becoming something of a Chelsea second team. Last summer the brilliant Tino Livramento went to the South Coast from the Chelsea academy, along with Dynel Simeu. Armando Broja joined them on loan around the same time.

Now sources are reporting that they’re chasing Tino Anjorin, whose loan at Lokomotiv Moscow has been cut short.

A temporary spell for the midfielder in Southampton seems like a nice idea for both teams – they get to see what he’s like up close, and Chelsea’s asset gets some Premier League game time to boost his value.

But unfortunately, teams can only have one player on loan from a team in the same division now, so unless they’re able to secure Broja permanently this January (which looks impossible), any move for Anjorin would have to be a full sale.

Even at his £17m asking price, that would seem like a bit of a gamble for both teams, and we reckon his will go on loan to another side for the remainder of this campaign.
