“We saw that in his data” – Thomas Tuchel explains the one thing Lukaku needs to do to have an impact

The recent comments from Romelu Lukaku to Sky Italy that created all the drama have been brushed under the rug for now and both he, and Thomas Tuchel, are moving forward for Chelsea.

The head coach has been selecting the Belgium international to lead his line once again and is putting his trust fully back in his striker.

Lukaku has been putting the effort in back on the pitch again for Chelsea and things seem to be OK in the camp right now.

Tuchel has been impressed with how Lukaku has performed in the last couple of games and says that even against Tottenham last week, Lukaku had a ‘huge physical impact’, as reported by The Guardian this morning.

The Blues boss was speaking in his press conference yesterday and the embargoed section has now been released over night.

He does go on to say though that there is still one thing Lukaku needs to do to carry on having such a ‘huge impact’.

“Romelu had a huge physical impact in the game against Tottenham,” said Tuchel.

“Maybe he wasn’t so spectacularly involved, but he was involved in playing a crucial part with his physical qualities. We saw that in his data.

“Once he adapts to the physical style of the league there is no doubt he will have a huge impact. We will not reinvent his style or reinvent the player. He can simply be Romelu and then we are all fine and then he will score because this is what he always does.

“Nothing helps more than goals with strikers,” Tuchel said. “There is no talk, no video that can build up the same feeling as a goal.”
