Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is a straight speaker usually. He doesn’t reveal everything, but he’s honest and gets right to the point.
That’s why it was notable to hear him waffling in an unusual way when asked whether Kenedy was going to be the club’s solution at left back.
He neither wanted to rule out the club buying a new player, nor wanted to admit that the Brazilian had been brought back to play an important role. That hesitation in committing one way or the other tells us that there is still hope that a player comes in.
