Chelsea have gone with such an impressively strong line-up for this game that there wasn’t as much room for the youngsters as we would have hoped.
In fact, after 3 debuts in the quarter finals of the EFL Cup, tonight’s FA Cup Third Round game against Chesterfield sees just one – 17 year old Lewis Hall.
Thomas Tuchel had some words about the youngster before the game, and he explained that his selection was down to the impressive training ground performances he had put it.
And Tuchel on selecting teenager Lewis Hall for the first time for #CFC “Lewis (is) very young and good in training and hopefully he can show it today.”

There are whispers that he will be playing at left wing back. Usually a midfielder, he is left footed and it’s not like Chelsea have a lot of options there. He should certainly be able to get forward against non-league opposition.
You never know – if he really shines today and Chelsea struggle in the transfer market, he could end up being Marcos Alonso’s backup for the rest of the season.
