Senegal start the clock on Edouard Mendy return

Edouard Mendy’s Senegal side are in action at this moment, in the opening game of their AFCON tournament, facing Zimbabwe in the group stage.

Mendy himself isn’t playing, having tested positive for Covid last week, upon his arrival at the tournament in Cameroon.

Chelsea of course weren’t keen to lose their inspirational goalie in the middle of the season, but at least the competition is underway now and they can start looking forward to it ending – unfortunately for them, Senegal are favourites, and are likely to make it deep into February.

In the meantime, we’ve got Kepa in goal. He’s made a decent start, and has looked in good form in his cameos this season. There is a crazy run of games this month for him to show what he can do, and if our defence is at its best he will feel well protected.

His run continues when we take on Tottenham in the second leg of the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
