Petr Cech explains ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity’ at Chelsea that he could not turn down

Chelsea’s newest board member, Petr Cech, has been speaking about his decision to join up with Chelsea when he retired from playing and how the opportunity was just too good to turn down.

The Blues legend was planning on taking a year off and out of the game when he retired from playing, but Chelsea came calling and when that happens he just cannot say no to the ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Cech has already been doing some great work at the club and he has been the driving force behind signings such as Edouard Mendy, who has just recently been named the FIFA goalkeeper of the year.

His presence and effect in and around Cobham has been very beneficial and he acts as a positive middle-man between the owners and the team.

He’s been writing in his latest column again on the Chelsea website this week, and the snippet below is fantastic:

“I was planning to have a year off after I retired, and then I got an offer from Chelsea for a position I couldn’t refuse. It could have been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I took it. That is the way life goes!”
