It looks like Chelsea might have spent a lot of time trying to bring in a replacement for Ben Chilwell, who is out injured until at least the end of the season.
It was November the 23rd when Chilwell got injured, and as we hit the final days of the window, it looks like Chelsea are finally conceding that they cannot land their main target to cover Chilwell, who ironically is one of their own players.

According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, there is now ‘no expectation’ that Emerson Palmieri will be recalled from his loan at Lyon, purely because the French side are holding firm and not allowing it.
He is now expected to see out his loan move in Ligue 1, where his club also have an option to buy him at the end of the season, and Chelsea may well now be left with Kenedy and Marcos Alonso for their left wing back options.
