Jamie Cumming makes another loan move, impressive progress continues

Chelsea’s traditional January reshuffle of their loan arrangements is continuing, with Jamie Cumming the latest player to have his temporary home switched up.

After a first senior season with Stevenage last season in League Two, the goalkeeper stepped up to League One this year and played 22 games Gillingham in the first half of the season.

He’s impressed there, and has now upgraded from a team at the bottom of the table to MK Dons, who are right up near the top. He will compete for the number one shirt with Franco Ravizzoli, following the departure of Andrew Fisher to Swansea last week.

It’s hard to get excited by players two divisions below the Premier League, but keep an eye on Jamie. Goalkeepers tend to have to drop further down the pyramid to get their first chance on loan, and it’s no knock on his talent. If he continues progressing like this, we have a real player on our hands.
