“I see no signs we should be worried about it” – Thomas Tuchel on Azpilicueta future

Cesar Azpilicueta always seemed as certain as Thiago Silva to sign on for another year of playing at Chelsea, but it’s not happened yet, and the defender seems like he might be considering his options.

The fact that Barcelona went and signed Dani Alves out of semi-retirement in Brazil makes the idea of them signing a veteran still playing at the top level and getting into the Spain squad seem reasonable by comparison. The Athletic go as far as to describe “significant interest” in the versatile defender from Spain.

Those of us prone to panic might be starting to get worried, but if you have any faith in Thomas Tuchel to speak honestly, you can be comforted by his words:

“[Azpi] is very calm. He has everything in his own hands. I see no signs we should be worried about it,” the Chelsea coach said.

For now, we are calm. We all remember how club legends like John Terry and Frank Lampard had to sweat it out until the end of the season to get their deals agreed by the time they were Azpi’s age.

If Tuchel is relaxed, then we are too.
