Chelsea’s spread of goals around the team has turned into a curse, not a blessing

Earlier this season, it was being celebrated how much Chelsea’s goals were being spread around the team.

The Blues have 16 scorers in the Premier League this season, an impressive statistic. But those goals are spread so thin, and we’re now starting to suffer from that.

Mason Mount is our top scorer with 7, and his form has dropped off to the point where he was left out of the team against Man City last weekend.

In second is Jorginho, all 6 of whose goals have come from the penalty spot.

Then you’re down to Romelu Lukaku – and we all know about his troubles at the moment. After him come Reece James and Ben Chilwell, both out injured.

From there you’re down to players with 3 goals or fewer. A smattering of defenders and midfielders, and inconsistent attackers like Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech, who have a dreadful 8 goals between them this season
