Chelsea have been desperately hunting for a left back to sign, and they have now found one – although he will not be the first team solution we need.
The development squad at Chelsea has the same issues at left back that Thomas Tuchel’s team does, but they’ve made their move a lot more decisively, today completing the signing of Dylan Williams from Derby.
The 18 year old made his first team debut back in September and has looked like one of the Championship’s best young talents to have emerged this season.

He will now return to youth football with Chelsea’s development team, but there will surely be first team chances coming his way at some point if the club continue to fail to sign anyone else to back up Marcos Alonso for the rest of this season.
Either way, given he was on a scholarship deal at Derby, it’s a no-brainer move for the whole club to add young talent at that position, wherever he ends up playing.
