We hate the sound of this one, but it just won’t go away.
SportWitness have translated quotes from L’Equipe today continuing the whispers that Chelsea are one of the teams interested in Ousmane Dembele, the Barcelona winger whose contract expires this summer, and can thus now speak to foreign clubs.
Now there are a couple of reasons we think we keep getting mentioned in connection with Dembele.
One is the Thomas Tuchel effect – it was with Tuchel in charge that Dortmund bought Dembele, and that the winger had his greatest success. Those kind of connections are enough to breed a decade of transfer rumours.
Then there’s the plain fact that Barcelona are desperate to sell players like Dembele, and all these leaks come from friendly sources trying to find him a home – and just some wishful thinking.
Unfortunately for Barca fans, this just isn’t a deal we can see Chelsea being interested in.
