Championship beckons for Chelsea player who made first appearance in 8 years this week

Chelsea had an opportunity to play some young and fringe players last weekend as they faced up against non league opposition, Chesterfield.

This gave Thomas Tuchel the chance to rest some key players and give others minutes, including the first appearance in 8 years for 26-year old Lewis Baker.

It would be amazing if you guys subscribed for my project over at Si & Dan Talk Chelsea, where we are putting out so much Chelsea content including DAILY Newsletters, exclusive news, breaking news, Podcasts, interviews, inside information, and bringing in some massive guests!

The curious case of Lewis Baker is exactly that, a very curious one. He was always touted as the next biggest thing out of the Chelsea academy years before Mason Mount and Reece James burst onto the scene.

But he never made it at the club despite a series of different loan spells, and his Blues career is ticking down now with his contract up in the summer.

Despite playing for Chelsea at the weekend, he is now just waiting for his contract to end according to Goal, and will be looking to join an ‘upwardly mobile’ Championship club.

Incredibly, he’s been at Chelsea now for the last 17-years.
