Trevoh Chalobah could return for Everton game as Chelsea desperately search for cover

Chelsea were already in dire straits in terms of injuries when Trevoh Chalobah was forced to move into midfield in the second half against Watford last week.

Not long after that, things got a whole lot worse when he limped off the pitch holding his hamstring.

We haven’t seen him since then, and Thomas Tuchel has confirmed he’s out of the trip to St Petersburg tomorrow, and one would assume this weekend’s match against Leeds.

But The Athletic‘s Chelsea correspondent Simon Johnson has just written a piece saying that the issue “isn’t too bad” and the club are targeting a return for the defender against Everton on the 16th.

In the meantime, Cesar Azpilicueta can provide cover at centre back, and we expect to see him tomorrow and this weekend at some stage. But the sooner the impressive Chalobah is back the better, both for him and for his teammates.
