Chelsea have been very patient with Timo Werner. First Frank Lampard and then Thomas Tuchel – and throughout it all the fans and his teammates – have given the likable German plenty of chances to show himself to be the player they thought they were getting two years ago.
But his latest performance, against Manchester United on Sunday, showed him further away than ever from where we want him to be.
Hiding from the game on the left wing, hitting scuffed shots and slipping at crucial moments, it’s hard to ever see the deadly Leipzig striker returning now.

One person who clearly thinks he can get something out of Werner is his old coach Raf Ragnick, recently appointed at Man U.
Reports today from Christian Falk in Bild claim that the former Leipzig boss is keen on signing Werner for his new team.
Chelsea usually avoid selling to direct rivals – but in this case, they may just make an exception.
