Mount in the pivot, Saul left wing back – Predicted Chelsea Xl vs Zenit

We could see some big changes from Thomas Tuchel this evening as his side get ready to face Zenit in the last game of the Champions League group stages.

Chelsea have already qualified for the knockout stages whilst trying to secure top position in the group, and Zenit have nothing much to play for other than pride.

My thoughts on the potential line up has changed a few times, and this morning I am thinking we may see a couple of forced changes.

I think Mason Mount has a chance of being put in the pivot alongside Ruben Loftus-Cheek with injuries to all our other centre midfield options, and Mateo Kovacic having Covid.

He’s played there for England and for Chelsea under Frank Lampard and could be an OK short-term fix there.

Saul Niguez is likely to start, but I think that might be to give Marcos Alonso a rest at left wing back. The rest might look like this..

(3-4-3): Mendy: Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger: James, Loftus-Cheek, Mount, Niguez: Hudson-Odoi, Pulisic, Werner.
