We’ve heard for some time now about rumours that Maurizio Sarri, now Lazio manager, wants to sign Kepa for his new team.
They’ve never really gone anywhere – rumours about Kepa never do. The kinds of teams who might want to sign him simply can’t afford his wages, let alone a transfer fee.
But as time goes by and his record breaking transfer becomes more historical, Chelsea’s willingness to play ball increases, and so do the number of rumours about a move for the keeper.
SportWitness today have more chatter from Italy, this time adding Napoli to the mix as another potential destination. Once again, it would require Chelsea paying a massive chunk of the keeper’s wages, and we can’t see it happening mid-season, especially with the Africa Cup of Nations coming up.
But next summer could be the first time we see realistic interest in Kepa being made material. Watch this space.
