Injury fears for Trevoh Chalobah as Chelsea man limps off with hamstring issue

Chelsea are really up against it now.

A half time sub saw Trevoh Chalobah step into the Blues’ weakened midfield, but now the beloved academy kid has limped off just ten minutes into the second period, holding his hamstring.

At the very least it didn’t look like a serious tear, perhaps just a tweak. But either way, it’s yet another injury we can ill afford.

Every player who goes down increases the minutes their fit colleagues have to play – thereby increasing their own risk of injury. It’s a horrific injury spiral, and there’s not much more that can be done about it.

Even the January transfer window feels a long, long way away now. We might be seeing youth team players on the bench before long.

The worst part is, we’ve got to get ready for a lot more of these. The squad has been stretched to its limits, and the really intense run of games is only just beginning.
