Chelsea tried their best to sign Jules Kounde this summer, but in the end Sevilla asked for too much, and the Blues wouldn’t be held to ransom.
Kounde wasn’t happy about it, as you might expect, but he’s getting on with it now.
One person who benefitted from the situation immensely was Trevoh Chalobah. The failure to sign a new centre back meant he stayed at the club, and he’s since proven himself as a proper option for Thomas Tuchel – to the extent that there are now questions about whether we need Kounde at all.
Despite the fact they’re indirectly competing with each other, they clearly get on with each other too – as their exchange of Instagram comments shows.
