“I will never, ever shy away” – Ruben Loftus-Cheek admits big Watford mistake

It’s tough to pick out individuals for a poor performance against Watford last night, because Chelsea collectively were terrible.

It’s quicker to pick out the ones who actually played well, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz, and perhaps a few others when they came on in the second half. But the first 45 minutes pretty much every other Chelsea player was VERY poor.

Our midfield pivot was worryingly weak, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek was part of that. He did get much better in the second half, but he was so bad in the first 45 and gave away the ball a lot.

It was him being tackled in the centre circle that lead to Watford’s equalising goal, and the midfielder has reacted to his mistake via his Instagram account.

He says that he holds his hands up for the error and will never shy away of such mistakes.

“An unbelievably tough game,” Wrote Loftus-Cheek.

“It’s a good sign that we can win while not being at our best. The team stuck together. I hold my hands up for my mistake but I will never, ever shy away.”

It’s a mature and needed reaction from Ruben, let’s hope he soon goes back to the top form showed before these last couple of games.
