Edouard Mendy set for massive wage increase as reward for fine form

Edouard Mendy only signed for Chelsea 18 months ago, and he has a contract that runs until 2025.

There is no need on the club’s end to upgrade that just yet – but points mean prizes, and his performances have been so good since he arrived at Chelsea – and the rewards for the club have been so tangible in the form of trophies – that they’re now apparently willing to offer him an upgrade already.

The Sun report that Chelsea are happy to give him a boost from the modest (!) £60,000 a week he’s on at the moment.

The paper speculates that Mendy could almost double his wage to £100,000 in the new contract.

After a Champions League win, an FA Cup final and a really strong start to this Premier League campaign, that seems fair enough.

The hard part will be working out what to do with Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is on huge money without playing often.
