Chelsea’s set piece master wants to stay to learn from “different level” Thomas Tuchel

Coach Anthony Barry was brought to Chelsea by Frank Lampard, but has stuck around even after Lampard was sacked in January.

Since then he’s had offers of full time managerial jobs in the lower leagues, and offers of promotions to full time assistant at other Premier League sides, but he’s turned them all down to stay at Stamford Bridge.

According to a really interesting profile of Barry in the the Sunday Times, it’s all because of Thomas Tuchel, from whom he is learning so much. He’s quoted as describing the Blues boss as “different level.”

Barry is in such demand and clearly has so much talent that it seems inevitable we will lose him one day. But for now, with him enjoying learning so much from being with us, we can reap the benefits of his set piece expertise, which has seen us go from the worst to among the best of the Premier League teams at corners and free kicks.
