Declan Rice is a long term target of Chelsea’s, but the midfielder is doing so well for current club West Ham that he’s actually making it harder to get his dream move.
He signed a big new contract which doesn’t help. And the more he helps his team up into the upper echelons of the league – they’re 4th now after beating Chelsea last weekend – the harder it is for anyone to sign him.
Former West Ham player Luke Chadwick spoke to CaughtOffside this week and he was so full of praise for the team David Moyes has built, and Rice in particular.
The midfielder is “as both a player and a leader in the team… really raising standards at West Ham.”
If they finish in the top 4 this year that will make it truly difficult for Chelsea – or any other top team – to sign him. But one way or the other, it seems like Champions League football is coming very soon for Declan Rice.
